Project Introduction: Animation Fundamentals

Today, the first studio topic was set:  Animation. From a personal viewpoint, it could be a tough project as I am rather inexperienced with animation. However the structure of work means that by the end of the eight or so weeks I will at least know of the basic forms and processes behind making 2D and 3D animations.
The end products of the project are:
-          A 2D bouncing ball animation
-          A 3D bouncing ball animation
-          An original animation to fit a sound bite
-          A Design Document
-          Life Drawings
-          And a reflective Journal.

The 2D and 3D bouncing ball animations will be tackled via two tutorials over successive weeks (and hopefully some outside of studio work of my own to perfect it), while I am hoping that the knowledge from those exercises aids me in the original animation task. The life drawing elements, I am actually looking forward to because as an artist my own anatomy understanding is hugely limited due to being mainly self-taught. The life drawing I do will both be beneficial to the project and my own artistic ability so that will be a brilliant experience.
And the design document and Journal will just unfold as the project does so I am not too concerned about the work flow as the key will be to keep the pace of work, beginning with the task set this week.
‘To present good and bad examples of the 12 principles of animations’

With this video as a starting point, I will search for suitable examples to present for the rest of this week, whilst keeping my eye out for some of the resources outlined in the project brief.
